Lucy J. Trotter
|
|
| |
President
|
|

A legal assistant and office manager in
a seemingly former lifetime, Lucy
Trotter realized in mid-2007 that it was
time to align her life more closely with
the things she cared deeply about. This
included a love of planet Earth and a
desire to make a contribution to
reversing and healing the damage done to
the health of the planet and its
inhabitants over the past decades. As
she began searching for ways to
implement these changes in her own life,
she looked around Sin City and noticed
that while there was a lot of green
here, it was mostly on the blackjack
table. Out of her search for certain
green businesses, products and
organizations grew the notion that a
one-stop location for this information
would benefit many Las Vegans. Thus the
Las Vegas Green List was born. As Lucy
began formulating plans for the green
business directory, the idea took on a
life of its own and the Green List came
to include many features designed to
keep Las Vegans informed and create a
community of like-minded individuals.
“I attended the National Clean Energy
Summit held in 2008 at UNLV. As I
listened to President Clinton, Senator
Reid, the governors of many states, Van
Jones, author of
The Green Collar Economy, and
many others, I realized that Nevada has
the potential to be a leader in the
movement to clean up the planet and
reinvigorate our economy. There is
already so much momentum to that end in
Las Vegas with the many LEED-certified
buildings being constructed and the
one-of-a-kind Springs Preserve. I want
to do my part to make that vision a
reality.” It is Lucy’s hope that
interested individuals and businesses
will become a part of this community and
make their voices heard, from Las Vegas
to Washington, D.C.!

Emma Trotter
|
|
| |
Vice-President
|
|

Lucy's daughter, Emma, represents the
next generation's viewpoint on
eco-friendly lifestyles. "In my
generation, living a greener life is
becoming an easy, natural thing to do,”
she says. “We're being raised with
continual awareness of recycling,
greening our homes, eating organic foods
and buying fuel efficient vehicles. My
main goal is for people to see how easy
it is so that they can start
incorporating small changes that make a
huge difference collectively. “
Coming from a media and journalism
background, Emma, 23, handles much of
the writing content seen on the Web
site, and focuses on public relations
and future event planning. "Because the
green movement is so ongoing, there's no
end to the Green List. I would love to
have a huge bi-annual event with every
local green business and product
represented. I want everyone from the
Mayor to the Mortons to attend so we can
all encourage each other to spread the
word on living sustainably in Nevada."
Emma especially encourages those who
have never “greened” their life in any
way to explore the website. "It is my
hope that as they read the various
articles, people will begin to think
twice about their daily actions and the
harmful products they are using. Most
people don’t realize that even common
things like cosmetics, lotions and
household cleaners are harmful to both
our personal health and the environment.
We will explain that and much more as we
expand the content of the web site. Do
you want to build an eco friendly home
or remodel your current one? Las Vegas
Green List is your resource for
architects, low-VOC paint brands, solar
power companies, eco upgrades. It
doesn't get much easier than that."
